Support

Ardent 1.0.0 stores a signed-in diary in your account by default. Most issues are sign-in, storage settings, backups, or a feature that needs a tap. Ardent Labs, New South Wales, Australia.

Account

Sign in from More. On iPhone use email and password (no Google/X — Apple requires Sign in with Apple for those). Google and X are on the web. Signed in, the diary lives in the cloud unless you turn that off in More → Where your diary lives. You then have 30 days to reverse before the cloud copy is deleted. To delete the account: More → Account → Delete account → type DELETE. That is the in-app deletion Apple requires. This Support page is the public help URL for App Review.

Back up before you switch phones

Signed in, sign in on the new phone — the diary loads from your account. You can also open More → Download backup for a JSON file of your diary, workouts, custom foods and Coach answers, then Restore backup. iCloud is not automatic.

Food search looks empty

Wait for the catalog to finish loading (status on More). Then search Vegemite, a Coles milk, or scan a barcode. Live catalog needs a network; AUSNUT still works offline.

Apple Health / wearables

More → Connected Health. Configure Apple Health on iPhone when you want activity, sleep or heart data in Ardent. You can skip it entirely. If a category says “No accessible data”, that is not a confirmed denial — iOS does not tell apps which Health types you refused. Manage types in the Health app. Wearable calories are estimates and are not added to your energy target. Remove the cloud copy from that same screen if you no longer want history on your account.

Camera or Scan is blocked

iOS Settings → Ardent → Camera. You can still type a barcode or pick a photo from the library. We only ask for the camera when you tap Scan.

Coach said it failed

Coach only runs when you tap Analyse my logs or Ask Grok to decide. It needs a network and at least some food or session history. Try again; it does not retry in the background.

Home Screen widgets

On iPhone, long-press the Home Screen → + → Ardent. Nutrition, Workout, Quick log, Recovery and Problems read the same diary as the app. Logging water from the widget adds a cup to today; food, weight and Start workout open the matching screen. Numbers hide on the Lock Screen if iPhone is set to redact private data. Problems never appear there. Widgets keep the last snapshot offline and do not poll.

Quick Voice

On iPhone: Control Center or Lock Screen → Edit Controls → add Ardent Quick Voice (microphone). Tap, speak a set or meal, stay on the Lock Screen. Direct buttons (Start workout, Water, Complete set, Rest, Finish, Undo) do not need speech. Siri: “Log with Ardent: five reps at sixty kilos.” “Tell Ardent my chest is still sore.” “Start workout in Ardent.” iOS does not let a Lock Screen control run a custom microphone — Quick Voice uses App Intents / Siri, the same one-tap idea as the flashlight. Try it in the app from More → Quick Voice.

Units and energy

More → Energy as kJ, or US units. Weights are stored in kilograms internally; the keypad shows lb when US units are on. Profile height/weight follow the same toggle.

Not medical advice

Targets, DRI values, Epley 1RM and Coach plans are educational. They are not a substitute for a doctor, dietitian or qualified coach. If you have an eating disorder, injury or clinical condition, get in-person care before using the diary to restrict or push load.

Privacy and terms

Privacy Policy · Terms of Use. Signed in, the diary is in your account unless you opted to store it only on this device. Coach and live catalog search still leave the device only when you tap them.
